Crabbing, originally uploaded by Dan Wollin.

Matt and Jordan ended up catching 3 keepers crabbing at Alsea Bay. The seals were keeping on eye on use as well as many of the seagulls getting their share of pringles potato chips.

Whale at Rocky Creek, originally uploaded by Dan Wollin.

A whale put on a show and I got my first whale pictures. They are hard to get a shot as they rise out of the water. We had a great vantage pint at Rocky Creek park near Depoe Bay.

Sandboarding Dunes, originally uploaded by Dan Wollin.

The guys tried sandboarding both at Pizmo beach and at the Oregon Coast. The dunes has a shop where you can rent boards and you wax them up and off you go. We went to the dunes in FLorence as well as Honeyman State Park where the dunes were much taller. After a few hours of bumps and scrapes the guys called it a day.

Well we finally got the car going, when I picked it up the battery was charged down, the guy left the key on. So we got it jumped and headed north 65 miles and charged up the car as we drove. THe guys got to shop at Fred Meyers and get their beloved Madden 08′ for PSP. So we went crabbing at night and the guys played their games on the dock. We caught tons of tiny crabs and no keepers. We set up camp and the guys made grilled cheeses with the pudgy pie makers on the fire. They went to bed pretty fast. It is raining here in the morning and I am working at a cafe with internet, the campground has internet but only outdoor places to sit. So today we will crab again and check out a few attractions on the coast, we will leave camp on Sunday to travel along the Columbia River Gorge towards Idaho and Montana.

We hauled a ton of miles from San Francisco and made it through the redwoods. We stopped at ann Elk viewing area and several large trees. We then made it to the Southern Oregon Coast and stopped at Harris Beach state park, an awesome place. Check the link to the right “Current Trip Photos”. When we got up this morning the car would not start. The fuel pump went and on top of it the gas tank had to be replaced since the road salt had rusted all the connections. So we have to wait until parts come in. Time for a brand new car. The miles are over 140,000 and it is hard to keep putting money into a high milage vehicle. We will head to Seal Rock and park there for a week. Then we head back home.

We headed out around 8:00a.m. and went through L.A. and headed to the coast via Hollywood Boulevard. We saw the walk of Stars, Chinese Mann theater, The Kodak Theater (Where Oscaers are held) The Laugh Factory, Sunset Strip, Beverly Hills, Belair and then Malibu. We took Hwy 1 up the coast and stopped at Pizmo beach to sandboard and collect Sand Dollars. We then found a Starbucks and got pat Big Sur, a spectacular area where the mountains meet the ocean. We headed up to Monterey Bay and Carmel, then made it to the Radisson in San Francisco. We head out to Oregon in the morning.

Huntington Beach, originally uploaded by Dan Wollin.

We made it down to the beaches of Orange County. We stopped at Newport Beach and Huntington Beach. There were lots of surfers and the second dog beach we ran into. The guys were like little kids in the sand building walls and barriers of sand and then the waves washing them away. I got soaked up to my waist, very high waves.
